[Hiring] Senior Software Engineer @riverside.fm

Role Description

We built an agentic platform that helps content creators, podcasters, marketers, and major brands like Spotify, TED, NBC, Netflix, and Disney capture and create high-quality audio and video content with ease. The traditional production process is slow and never built for today's scale. Riverside's technology streamlines the entire content production process, turning real conversations into professional-grade videos, podcasts, webinars, livestreams, and whatever comes next.

Quality is in everything we do, and it starts the moment people hit record together. This is where your role comes in: as a Senior Software Engineer on our Live Call team, you'll build the real-time layer that every Riverside recording runs on.

Every Riverside recording starts with a live call. The Live Call team owns the real-time layer that connects hosts and guests from anywhere in the world, in studio quality. We are a team of curious engineers working on real-time audio and video communications at scale, and we keep things practical: no overengineering, just solid solutions.

We’re looking for a sharp, pragmatic Senior Software Engineer who wants to go deep into real-time communications and make a real impact on the core of our product.

• Build and own full-stack features across the live call experience, mainly in Node.js and TypeScript, on both server and client.
• Work on the services that power real-time sessions, such as signaling, connectivity, and media routing.
• Own what you ship in production: monitoring, resilience, alerting, and jumping in when something breaks.
• Learn the WebRTC stack and the constraints of real-time media, and use that knowledge to push the product forward.
• Use AI tools as a natural part of how you design, build, and debug.
• Over time, get your hands on native C/C++ code where performance matters.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with strong full-stack skills (Node.js and TypeScript).
• Proven experience building and running production systems, ideally real-time or high-scale ones.
• Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/UDP, DNS, TLS and certificates, and how your services actually behave at the network level once deployed.
• A hands-on, pragmatic engineer, not a theorist.
• Experience working in, and thriving in, a remote team.
• High ambition, hunger to learn, and real passion for real-time audio and video.
• Background in networking or network security products, WebRTC, or C/C++ - a big plus!

Requirements

• Care about resilience and monitoring and you "live" your system.

Benefits

• If you wanna take part in transforming how people and businesses share their stories globally, Riverside’s your place.
• The work is challenging, the culture is fast-paced, and the people are exceptionally brilliant.
• We guarantee that your ideas will genuinely make an impact.
