[Hiring] Senior Software Engineer @Airbnb

Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer who is passionate about making a difference through their work. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work in a global collaboration environment and lead the project execution for better Airbnb customers and agents experience. You will develop and evolve CS engineering foundations with long term strategies, such as:

• Core CS data service
• Supervisor platform
• Foundational toolings

You will be expected to have AI/ML/LLM project experience to level up and enhance CS engineering foundations AI capabilities with more intelligence, given Airbnb and CSP’s increasing focus on AI-driven solutions.

A typical day includes:

• Working cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy to build novel products and features.
• Driving, leading, and contributing to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks.
• Discussing and aligning technical specifications and implementation details with other engineers, including cross-team engineers.
• Bringing flexibility to collaboration with design and product partners by presenting tradeoffs and iterating to the ideal solution.
• Writing clean, testable, and maintainable code to implement the features.
• Performing tech design and code reviews and advising/mentoring other engineers.
• Driving the delivery when you are the POC of the projects, communicating the status to stakeholders and ensuring the overall quality.
• Advocating and participating in efforts to advance Airbnb’s engineering processes and technical foundations.
• Providing critical input in team roadmap and technical direction.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of industry experience
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in at least one major programming language (such as Java/Kotlin).
• Experience in building large and scalable systems, such as high-traffic systems, big volume data processing, etc.
• Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
• Mentorship to junior developers
• Fluent communication in both English and Chinese.

Location

This position is China - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Your recruiter will inform you what cities you are able to work from depending on your personal legal working identity and Airbnb internal policies.
