[Hiring] Senior Software Engineer @WeVote

Role Description

WeVote has an open volunteer Senior Software Engineering position for an individual who wants to develop new skills with CSS/HTML, ReactJS or Python/Django, and use existing application development skills to help strengthen American Democracy. This position currently requires a minimum of 8 hours per week, and you could also easily spend 20 hours a week if you wanted to.

Our system is quite large and battle-tested. We have some very interesting and challenging engineering projects as we get ready for the 2026 elections.

• Install our software on your development machine.
• Work in both React and Python, or focus on one.
• Collaborate with one of our engineering teams (3-5 people) in weekly Zoom meetings.
• Tackle specific issues as well as larger projects.

Qualifications

• Passion for the latest technology and commitment to strengthening American Democracy.
• Experience or aptitude to see 5-20 hour-long projects through to completion.
• Striving for personal excellence.
• At least 8+ hours per week during core team hours M-F 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
• Willingness to work with and support other volunteers.
• Currently located in the US (100% remote/volunteer-from-home project).

Requirements

• An academic degree or work experience in CS/Comp Engineering (not required, but nice to have).
