[Hiring] Senior Search Engineer - Elasticsearch @Kaufland e-commerce

Role Description

As a Senior Search Engineer (all genders) - Elasticsearch, your goal is to bring our search to the next level for our customers.

• Improving our relevance: Writing faster queries, improving data quality of ingested data, and making decisions on better vs. worse relevancy.
• Enriching our ingestion architecture: Consuming change events, updating Elasticsearch mappings, and indexing into new fields.
• Efficient integration: Enhancing mapping, faster retrieval of recently changed data, or adding a field for more efficient searches.
• Data modelling: Understanding its implications and effects on indexing and querying.
• Performance enhancement: Keeping our search speed as fast as possible.
• Safety first: Keeping resiliency in mind in a microservice environment.

Our team tech stack consists of Kubernetes, gRPC, Typescript, the latest Node.js major version, Elasticsearch, a bit of MongoDB, Kafka, and DataDog for monitoring.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience as a Search Engineer.
• Experience with a (distributed) search engine.
• Skills to run, monitor, debug, and operate our Elasticsearch cluster and applications.
• Ability to provide tangible facts and figures, with experience in A/B testing for validation.
• Curiosity about the latest developments in tech and the search space.
• Desire to help others, share knowledge, and mentor.
• Willingness to go the extra mile for team success.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.
