[Hiring] Senior React Native Engineer @Pack.com

3d ago - Pack.com is hiring a remote Senior React Native Engineer. 💸 Salary: unspecified 📍Location: Northern America

Role Description

We are looking for an elite Senior React Native Engineer to lead the engineering of our iOS and Android mobile apps from development builds through app store distribution.

In our ecosystem, fluid animations and instant responsiveness are not cosmetic afterthoughts—they are the core product. We need a mobile engineer who treats 60fps as the bare minimum, understands native thread architecture, and has built complex, gesture-driven unboxing flows on production mobile devices.

Note: Pure React web experience or wrapper-based webviews will not fit this role. You must have shipped and maintained native mobile builds on the App Store and Google Play.

What You'll Own (Hands-On IC Execution)

  • High-Dopamine Mobile Mechanics: Write clean, modular TypeScript to architect tactile, gesture-driven interactions—such as mystery pack tears, loot-box carousel reveals, card flips, and real-time drop tickers—using React Native Reanimated, Gesture Handler, and Skia.
  • Frame-Rate & Native Performance: Hunt down and eliminate thread bottlenecks, dropped frames, sluggish view hierarchies, and memory leaks across both iOS (iPhones/iPads) and Android (high-end to budget hardware).
  • Resilient Data Layer: Build out resilient mobile query pipelines with GraphQL and TanStack Query, handling optimistic cache updates, pagination, network dropouts, and reconnection reconciliation during live unboxings.
  • Dual-Store Release Operations: Manage end-to-end deployment workflows across both platforms: Apple App Store (TestFlight, provisioning profiles, store review navigation) and Google Play (Internal/Closed testing tracks, store policy compliance), utilizing Expo (EAS), fastlane, Sentry crash monitoring, and safe OTA updates.
  • Native Bridges & New Architecture: Leverage React Native’s New Architecture (Fabric, TurboModules) and wire up custom native modules or haptics where JavaScript bridges hit performance limits.
  • Shipped Native Mobile Track Record: Strong production experience building and maintaining cross-platform mobile apps in React Native and TypeScript, with direct involvement in apps shipped to both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
  • Animation & Gesture Fluency: Deep, hands-on production experience with React Native Reanimated (worklets, shared values) and Gesture Handler. Experience with Shopify React Native Skia or custom canvas shaders is a major advantage.
  • Mobile Performance Profiling: Ability to profile real devices using Xcode Instruments, Android Studio Profiler, and React Native DevTools to diagnose UI/JS thread contention and excessive memory footprints.
  • State & Network Resilience: Hands-on mastery of GraphQL and TanStack Query (React Query) for managing client caching, race conditions, mutations, and offline/reconnection state handling on unstable mobile connections.
  • Dual-Platform Release Knowledge: Practical experience managing builds and submissions through both Apple App Store Connect and the Google Play Console, as well as configuring crash monitoring (Sentry) and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
  • Focused Individual Contributor: You want to spend your time writing production code, optimizing performance, and shipping releases in a tight engineering team (~5 devs), without people management overhead or corporate red tape.
  • Direct IC Ownership: Pure technical focus with full autonomy over code quality, implementation details, and tooling choices directly alongside technical leadership.
  • High-Growth Ecosystem: The financial backing and operational stability of a proven 2024 parent operator paired with the impact of rolling out a brand-new native mobile app.
  • 100% Remote: Flexible, asynchronous work environment centered on shipped features and smooth mobile experiences.

Qualifications

  • Strong production experience building and maintaining cross-platform mobile apps in React Native and TypeScript.
  • Deep, hands-on production experience with React Native Reanimated and Gesture Handler.
  • Experience with Shopify React Native Skia or custom canvas shaders is a major advantage.
  • Hands-on mastery of GraphQL and TanStack Query for managing client caching and offline state handling.
  • Ability to profile real devices using Xcode Instruments and Android Studio Profiler.

Requirements

  • Must have shipped and maintained native mobile builds on the App Store and Google Play.
  • Experience managing builds and submissions through both Apple App Store Connect and Google Play Console.

Benefits

  • Flexible, asynchronous work environment.
  • Impact of rolling out a brand-new native mobile app.
