[Hiring] Senior Data Engineer @Root Insurance

Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team to drive marketing operations, finance, analytics, and data science enablement at Root. In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Guiding complex technical implementations with engineers on your team or aligned to your domain.
• Supporting marketing and data science workflows and delivery.
• Working with a broad set of stakeholders to define the strategy and overall roadmap for the domain.
• Making decisions and delivering software with lasting effects on the order of quarters and years.

Your role is to achieve platform level tooling to:

• Allow faster onboarding of data sources.
• Integrate data with partners.
• Create faster experimentation cycles.
• Build the analytics and data science data infrastructure to enable more rapid decision loops.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as a software engineer.
• Expertise in Python, Terraform, SQL, and Spark.
• Expertise in Cloud Architecture - AWS Preferred.
• Expertise in Machine Learning Operations (Preferred).
• Expertise in Data Driven Marketing (Preferred).
• Proven leadership of projects involving multiple teams across functional domains.
• Excellent communication skills both with engineering colleagues and senior business leaders.

Requirements

• Salary Range: $136,500 - $155,000 (Bonus and LTI Eligible).
• Root is a “work where it works best” company, supporting remote work across the US.
