[Hiring] Senior Backend Engineer @OneSeven Tech

Role Description

We're building a HIPAA-compliant platform on AWS for a healthcare client, including a real-time eligibility check engine that integrates with a clearinghouse via EDI (270/271), an encrypted coverage data store, and alerting. You'll build directly against a design set by our Solutions Architect, on a small senior team moving fast over roughly 10 weeks. This is heads-down, high-ownership backend work on a real production system handling healthcare data.

Qualifications

• Senior backend engineering experience (5+ years)
• Strong in Python or Node.js/TypeScript
• PostgreSQL and REST API design
• Solid working AWS experience: Fargate/ECS, SQS, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch
• Able to execute infrastructure-as-code designed by an architect
• Strong experience integrating third-party APIs and handling messy external data

Requirements

• Healthcare EDI (ANSI 270/271) or clearinghouse integration experience (Nice to Have)
• Event-driven / queue-based pipeline experience (Nice to Have)
• HIPAA / PHI handling experience (Nice to Have)
• Terraform or AWS CDK (Nice to Have)

What You Will Do

• Build the backend and integrations to the architect's design, including the HIPAA-AWS foundation (infrastructure-as-code)
• Implement the clearinghouse eligibility integration: build the EDI 270 request, call the REST API, parse the 271 response
• Build the check engine: scheduler/SQS-driven daily eligibility sweeps, pending-enrollment polling, and countdown logic
• Build and maintain the encrypted coverage data store and alerting
• Own integration-path testing end-to-end
• Work heads-down with daily standups, delivering to the contract that the front-end/automation engineer consumes
