[Hiring] Senior Backend Engineer @Authority Partners

Role Description

Authority Partners is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-complexity digital media platform engagement as an agent workstream director. This is not a standard backend role — you will:

• Design workstreams
• Direct AI agents
• Review agent-generated TypeScript/Node.js service implementations
• Personally own the integration spike work that agents cannot handle autonomously

Each engineer directs 2–3 agent workstreams in parallel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional TypeScript/Node.js backend development in production microservices environments
• Good working knowledge of English

Requirements

• PostgreSQL at production depth: complex schema design, query optimisation (EXPLAIN ANALYSE, index design), transaction design for multi-step operations — ability to review AI-generated migrations and data access layers for correctness and data integrity
• REST API design: OpenAPI specification authorship, correct HTTP status semantics, idempotent mutation endpoints, pagination, rate-limit header implementation
• Direct experience directing AI agent code generation workstreams (Claude Code, Cursor Agent, or GitHub Copilot Workspace): context file design, workstream decomposition, and the ability to recognise AI-generated backend failure modes
• Ability to review AI-generated backend code for: type safety violations, missing error handling, N+1 query patterns, missing transactions, missing input validation, race conditions

Nice to Have

• AWS OpenSearch experience, particularly German language analysis chain configuration (decompounder, Hunspell stemmers, financial terminology synonym expansion)
• Experience building REST integrations against underdocumented third-party APIs
• Redis production expertise: TTL strategy, eviction policy selection, pub/sub, serialisation correctness
• B2B2C access model implementation: IP-range validation, named user corporate account management, bulk subscription APIs
• Social platform API integration experience (LinkedIn, Meta Graph API, X/Twitter API v2, TikTok, or equivalent)
• Financial market data API integration (REST or WebSocket)
• Newsletter/notification system design with anti-spam law compliance

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field would be of great value, but if you’re passionate and have the experience that backs up your abilities, for us, talent outweighs degree every time.
