[Hiring] Senior Back-End Ruby Engineer @The Honest Company Sandbox

Role Description

The Honest Company is looking for a Senior Back-End Ruby Engineer for a rapidly growing development team. We're a talented, passionate and determined group with a good sense of humor. We are looking for someone who will take initiative to support the company's mission of delivering safe, eco-friendly, beautiful and affordable home and family products to all current and future customers.

• Build, design and code new features and enhancements for Honest APIs and backend platform
• Building integration solutions for 3rd party services such as Payment Processing, Inventory management and Automation, Warehouse control systems and many more
• Participate in all aspects of a project life-cycle utilizing SCRUM methodology

Qualifications

• 4-year CS degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of professional experience, with 2+ years of open-source development experience using Ruby, Python or Node.js
• Understanding MVC frameworks such as Rails, Sinatra, Django, Express or similar
• A passion for writing maintainable code with a deep understanding of OOP, design patterns, and data structures
• Experience designing, building and testing REST API’s
• Experience with test driven development (RSpec, Cucumber, Capybara)
• Strong *nix skills (Linux, FreeBSD, and/or Mac OS X preferred)

Requirements

• Start-up experience
• Solid knowledge of scaling web applications and asynchronous architectures
• Passionate about TDD
• Experience working in a subscription-based e-commerce environment
• Cloud/AWS and distributed deployment experience a plus
• Experience with search platforms (Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, etc.)
• Automating deployments with Capistrano and Chef (or similar tools)
• Experienced with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and AJAX
• Contributed to open-source project(s)
