[Hiring] Protection and Controls Engineer @AECOM

Role Description

AECOM has a position opening for a Protection and Controls Engineer to support our growing Energy Business Line’s Engineering Center of Excellence in our Power Delivery programs, projects and pursuits. This role can be remote located in the U.S. or hybrid out of any of our AECOM U.S. offices.

Our team provides a wide range of electrical engineering services across market sectors including:

• Transmission (substations, OH/UG transmission systems, generator interconnections, interconnection strategy)
• Power distribution (OH/UG power systems, substations, EV charging networks, microgrid design, etc.)
• Renewables (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind)
• Next generation energy (hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolyzers, etc.)

We are looking for a talented engineer with a protection and controls background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the electrical engineering design work on assigned projects
• Working with Project Engineer and Project Manager on developing design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities
• Performing power system studies and system protection settings coordination on various projects
• Generating basis of design documentation for protection settings and relay configurations
• Supporting projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning
• Attending client meetings
• Occasional travel to client and/or project sites (including data gathering and field walks)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• 2+ years of relevant protection and controls experience in electrical engineering

Requirements

• EIT
• Knowledge of FERC and NERC requirements
• Experience with IEC61850
• Successful track record working with remote teams
• Commissioning Field Experience
• Power systems analysis software experience (SKM, EasyPower, Etap)
• Relay coordination utilizing ASPEN OneLiner
• Experience developing native relay setting files
• Distribution automation experience
• Experience working in collaborative 3D model environments (e.g. Navisworks)
