[Hiring] Principal Software Engineer @RTX

Role Description

As a Software Engineer on the Aviation Intelligence team, you'll design, build and code critical projects — real-time data streaming and inference, high-throughput data availability, AI/ML, and turning raw data into real insight — while helping plan and communicate the work along the way. We're a small team inside a large org, and this role is meant to grow into someone who brings ideas to the table, not just executes on them.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.
• Intermediate or better knowledge of Rust.
• Python experience.
• Experience with Unix-style systems (ability to do basic administration and manage work).
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience operating production workloads.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub Actions, or similar).
• Ability to work within an agile development style.

Requirements

• Experience with AWS (EKS, IAM, VPCs, networking).
• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Experience with Kafka.
• Experience with Nix.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, reliability, and scaling.
• Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, etc.).
• Familiarity with Dagster, Airflow or other modern ETL orchestration tools.
• Background in ML/AI systems in production (MLOps).
• Experience optimizing infrastructure for performance and cost.
• Familiarity with Iceberg, Spark, Elasticsearch and other large-scale data processing systems.
• Experience working in hybrid infrastructure environments (cloud + on-prem Kubernetes).
