Role Description

We are seeking a Principal Architect to join our Developer Platform organization. In this role, you'll be our Developer Platform's technical leader and visionary, responsible for designing and driving our "North Star" architecture. You will be a hands-on leader who can translate complex concepts into a clear technical strategy, ensuring a coherent and consistent platform for all S1 engineers.

• Architect the Future: Design and drive the end-to-end architecture of our Developer Platform, integrating with key organizations like Quality Assurance, Security, IT, and SRE.
• Define the Vision: Create and communicate technical concepts and standards, setting up the "rules of the game" for innovation while maintaining architectural consistency.
• Provide Technical Leadership: Serve as a go-to technical advisor for senior colleagues, advising on approaches and reviewing solutions.
• Be a Bridge Builder: Act as a critical link between the platform's infrastructure and developers, focusing on clear standards and an excellent developer experience.
• Stay Hands-On: While focusing on architecture, possess strong engineering skills to prototype suggestions and bring ideas to life.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Architecture, as a Technical Lead, or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record of designing and delivering complex, large-scale platforms.
• Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Hands-on engineering skills with a solid background in software engineering.
• Collaborative leadership abilities to influence and inspire senior contributors.
• Big picture thinking to design a platform from end-to-end.

Requirements

• US Citizenship is required for this position.
• Proven track record of building high-scale APIs.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, data privacy, and security.
• Expertise with public cloud technologies; AWS is required, GCP is strongly preferred.
• Deep expertise with multi-cloud strategies and operations.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, DevOps, and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub, Docker, Jenkins).
• Practical experience with cloud automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Proven knowledge of the agile development process and DevOps practices.
• Ability to work independently and with all levels of the organization.
