Role Description

As a Principal Engineer at Suralink, you will play a pivotal role at the intersection of technical strategy and leadership. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic insight, requiring you to drive architectural coherence across teams and foster alignment with our broader business objectives.

• Set long-term technical visions and shift architectural momentum when necessary.
• Guide teams toward shared, impactful outcomes.
• Influence and shape both software architecture and organizational structure.
• Navigate ambiguity to define clear paths forward.
• Articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including engineers, product teams, and senior executives.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience building and shipping production-grade software or services.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and principles.
• Experience setting architecture vision and strategy for a group of teams.
• Experience driving architectural decisions or patterns through their full lifecycle.
• Experience helping teams apply AI thoughtfully in product, architecture, and engineering workflow decisions.
• Experience in developing highly available services at scale.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and leaders, indirectly influence others positively.
• Strong communication skills to interact with customers, peers, and executive leadership.
• Experience and passion for mentoring and guiding engineers.
• Inspiring leader who can create and communicate a vision or plan.
• A strategic thinker with a customer focus and product understanding.
• Ability to make tough trade-off decisions with the long-term view of customers in mind.
• 15+ years of experience building distributed services.

Requirements

• Experience in some or all of the following: AWS, React, node.js, TypeScript, PHP, MySQL, NoSQL DBs.
• Experience with Cursor or Claude Code/Cowork.
