Role Description

Cresta is excited to expand our operations to Romania and build a tech hub in the region. These early joiners will play a key role in establishing our engineering team in Romania, helping to shape the future of the site. We are a remote-first environment, offering opportunities to work with a global team across Europe, the US, and Canada. Over time, we aim to create a co-working space in Romania, moving towards a hybrid environment.

About the Role - Junior Software Engineer (Internship)

We’re looking for a Junior Software Engineer Intern for a 3-month summer internship who’s excited to learn, curious about how real systems work, and comfortable jumping across the stack with guidance from experienced engineers.

What You’ll Do

• Build and improve backend services that power real-time AI features and search
• Help design and implement APIs for internal and external integrations
• Contribute across the stack when needed (backend, frontend, infrastructure)
• Work closely with product managers, ML engineers, and other software engineers
• Take tasks from implementation through deployment, with mentorship and code reviews
• Participate in technical discussions and learn best practices through hands-on work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or currently pursuing one)
• Strong problem-solving skills and a solid foundation in computer science
• Familiarity with at least one backend language (Python, Go, Node.js, or similar)
• Basic experience working with APIs (REST, gRPC, or equivalent)
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and collaborate with others
• Clear communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
• International programming or math olympiad prizes are a strong plus (If applicable, please clearly include them in your resume.)

Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience in software engineering (internships count)
• Exposure to databases like PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, or similar
• Basic understanding of system design, distributed systems, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Some familiarity with frontend development (React or similar frameworks)
