Role Description

This Senior role performs advanced analysis involving all aspects of supporting, improving, and enhancing the database and reports for a large project. This position requires strong SQL, PL/SQL, and Stored Procedure skills. The worker will also:

• Devise approaches to solving complex problems
• Provide thought leadership
• Manage project scope
• Provide ongoing updates on project status
• Exhibit a high level of skill in data aggregation and analysis

This position works for the IT-SEDS (Information Technology – Statewide Education Data System) section. Work assignments follow a defined software development life cycle (SDLC) process using an Agile-like approach for completing code changes for defined releases. This role works across multiple agency stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and efficacy of created reports, in the service of Texas's 1200 school districts.

• Plans, develops, tests, and documents computer programs, applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems
• Evaluates user requests for new or modified programs
• Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives
• Formulates plans outlining steps required to develop programs
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Independently performs a variety of complicated tasks
• May lead and direct the work of others
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in designing, coding, and supporting using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL (Required)
• 8 years of experience in Jasper Reports Development (Required)
• 8 years of Unit Testing and Dev Testing Experience (Required)
• 8 years of Agile Software Development using SDLC (Required)
• 4 years of experience with Jira Software Cloud and Confluence (Required)
