[Hiring] GCP Backend Platform Engineer @NextGen Commerce

Role Description

TBC Corporation is beginning the foundational phase of a major digital infrastructure modernization initiative. The company is building the API infrastructure, backend services, and event-driven integrations that will support its modern digital platform.

This opening is part of a three-engineer GCP team being assembled to accelerate delivery. Some foundational work and internal GCP patterns already exist, so the selected engineers will extend an existing technical direction rather than independently define a new enterprise platform.

This is a hands-on backend software engineering position in a GCP environment, with selected platform engineering responsibilities. The primary focus is:

• Writing Python services
• Developing REST APIs
• Implementing Pub/Sub integrations
• Deploying reliable cloud-native solutions

The engineer should also be able to:

• Contribute practical design guidance
• Troubleshoot production issues
• Work within established CI/CD and cloud operating practices

Qualifications

• Professional experience in backend software development, cloud application development, or platform engineering
• Strong hands-on Python development experience
• Practical experience developing and supporting applications or services on Google Cloud Platform
• Experience designing, developing, integrating, and supporting REST APIs
• Experience implementing event-driven or asynchronous solutions using Google Pub/Sub or a comparable messaging technology
• Experience with PostgreSQL, relational databases, and SQL queries
• Experience using Git and working within established CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of cloud-native application, API, integration, and distributed-system concepts
• Ability to contribute to technical design discussions and then implement the agreed solution
• Experience troubleshooting application, API, integration, or cloud-service issues
• Ability to produce maintainable, testable, secure, and production-ready code
• Professional English proficiency sufficient for regular technical collaboration with US-based teams
• Ability to clearly explain solutions the candidate personally designed, developed, tested, deployed, or supported
• Availability for meaningful overlap with US Eastern Time, including availability through approximately 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. ET when required
