[Hiring] Expert Engineer Frontend @Jimdo

Role Description

As an Expert Engineer (Frontend), you’ll provide architectural leadership across our frontend ecosystem. This is a senior individual contributor role with high impact and visibility.

• Shape system-level decisions across our monorepo — from build tooling and bundling strategies to testing infrastructure and shared libraries.
• Partner closely with product, design, and engineering teams.
• Focus on data flow, system reliability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
• Simplify legacy systems, drive migrations, improve developer experience, and mentor other engineers.
• Contribute hands-on to a large-scale TypeScript and React codebase.

Your impact:

• Lead the design and evolution of scalable frontend architectures across our monorepo.
• Own and improve build pipelines, bundling strategies, CI/CD processes, and testing infrastructure.
• Drive migration strategies for legacy systems and reduce architectural complexity.
• Improve performance, bundle size, build health, and test reliability.
• Mentor engineers, conduct thoughtful code reviews, and raise frontend quality standards.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other Engineering teams to balance platform thinking with product delivery.
• Represent frontend engineering in strategic technical discussions and roadmap planning.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of frontend engineering experience, including 2+ years in a senior or technical leadership role.
• Strong expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
• Deep hands-on experience with build tools (e.g., webpack), module systems, and frontend CI/CD.
• Strong understanding of frontend testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end) and quality standards.
• Proven experience in system design and frontend architecture at scale.
• A mentorship mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with monorepos, performance optimization, accessibility, or legacy migrations is a plus.
• Experience with AI Tools and Agentic Best Coding Practices.
