[Hiring] Engineering Manager @Renew Home

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of 4-6 software engineers in building, launching and maintaining scalable and robust software. You will oversee the development of systems that support our consumer product experience. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and strong leadership to guide the team in delivering reliable engineering solutions while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance, career development, and performance feedback.
• Guide and oversee the development of user-facing experiences and robust backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, program management, and other cross-functional teams.
• Manage the team's work across our technology stack, including Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, AWS/GCP services, TypeScript, React, Prefect, Git, and Jira.
• Facilitate the team's participation in agile development processes.
• Handle resource allocation, project prioritization, hiring, and onboarding.
• Stay abreast of industry trends in software engineering and cloud technologies.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience in software engineering or related fields.
• At least 2-3 years in a leadership or management role overseeing technical teams.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record as a self-starter who identifies strategic opportunities.
• Hands-on experience in building and managing scalable systems in a cloud environment.
• Solid software engineering skills with strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and some familiarity with TypeScript/React.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Ability to make decisions with incomplete data.

Requirements

• Experience in the electric power industry, IoT, or climate-tech sectors (bonus).
• Experience with cloud automation and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK (bonus).
