[Hiring] Engineering Manager @Float

Role Description

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager for Financial Infrastructure & Banking to lead one of Float’s most correctness-critical engineering domains. This team owns systems that:

• Move money
• Manage banking integrations
• Maintain ledger correctness
• Ensure Float can safely scale financial operations

The blast radius is high — mistakes here directly impact customer trust, funds, and regulatory posture — which is why this role requires exceptional technical judgment and seniority.

This is a player-coach role. You’ll spend roughly 60% of your time hands-on in the codebase and systems, and 40% leading and developing engineers, partnering closely with Product and Risk.

Qualifications

• 12–20+ years of engineering experience, including senior technical leadership
• Deep experience with distributed systems and correctness-critical workflows
• Experience with payments, banking, ledgering, or financial infrastructure (preferred)
• Strong backend engineering skills (Python a plus)
• Comfort pushing code in systems that move real money
• Experience leading senior engineers in high-trust environments
• Startup or growth-stage experience
