Role Description
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work with Product Managers, Designers, and Principal Engineers to be the technical lead for a variety of challenging projects.
- Work on the HackerOne Pentest product, leveraging the vast pentesting experience of our hacker community.
- Interact with a vibrant community of security researchers and hackers.
- Build delightful features and products for users and companies trusting HackerOne with their cybersecurity.
- Identify and spearhead new initiatives and make systematic improvements to technical weaknesses in the codebase.
- Embrace a Flexible Work approach, primarily remote with occasional in-person interactions.
What You Will Do
- Participate in a well-organized onboarding process called H.A.T.C.H.
- Set up your development environment and understand the engineering processes.
- By day 90, impress colleagues with technical contributions and present progress during review/demo sessions.
- Lead important new projects and innovate during Hack Week.
- Work as a project lead with stakeholders, designers, and product leaders.
- Build, ship, and maintain highly-available, performant, and durable features.
- Deliver key results for impactful objectives and participate in cross-squad initiatives.
- Mentor and be mentored by other engineers.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of general Software Engineering experience.
- Experience with dynamically typed, OOP languages such as JavaScript, Objective-C, PHP, Python, Ruby, or Bash.
- 3+ years Practical SQL experience, PostgreSQL preferred.
- Practical experience with React JS or similar libraries.
- Documented experience leading technical projects through all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ruby on Rails (2+ years of experience).
- React JS (2+ years of experience).
- GraphQL.
- Amazon Web Services.
- Containers / Docker.
- Security tooling like Nmap, Nuclei.
Compensation Bands
- Seattle, Austin, DC area: $169K – $211K • Offers Equity.
