Role Description
This role involves providing technical leadership and support for mainframe IMS applications.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the mainframe IMS application teams.
- Collaborate with Mainframe Systems teams to ensure high availability of applications.
- Administer mainframe application IMS databases across all environments (development, acceptance, and production).
- Conduct performance monitoring, tuning activities, backup, and recovery.
- Troubleshoot applications on IMS databases.
- Perform routine system administration functions including performance and security monitoring, and maintenance.
- Oversee and coordinate mainframe operations in the State's Consolidated Data Center Services (DCS).
- Assist application programmers with DBRC issues in the test environment.
- Research and resolve DBRC related abends in the production environment.
- Refresh Dev/Test databases with production backup images as requested.
- Maintain mainframe operating systems and coordinate testing of software upgrades and disaster recovery plans with DCS vendor.
- Assist with problem management and change management activities.
- Ensure compliance with DCS vendor standards and report non-compliance to management.
- Maintain and provide technical support for Mainframe Production Control and Support Jobs.
- Manage the monthly Mainframe Job Scheduler.
- Support agency application development by creating and maintaining procedures for application deployments.
- Create and expand application environments during development.
- Provide technical assistance to programmers and operations personnel for mainframe operations.
- Offer after-hour support for nightly batch Mainframe schedule COBOL and JCL programs.
Qualifications
- 7 years of experience with z/OS Systems platform
- 5 years of experience with mainframe application IMS database administration
- 7 years of experience with DBRC and forward recoveries
- 5 years of experience in basic z/OS utilities: TSO, SYSVIEW and/or SDSF, JSF, Basic IBM utilities IDCAMS, IEBGENER, IEFBR14
- 5 years of experience with Batch and CICS Cobol, IMS programming and problem resolution
- 5 years of experience developing and troubleshooting complex JCL
- 2 years of experience with JCL, CICS, VSAM, and TSO
- 2 years of experience writing, analyzing, and debugging REXX programs in a z/OS environment
- 2 years of experience with IMS HAL databases
- 2 years of experience with IMS Catalog
