Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer - DevOps to help guide and expand their technology platform. DevOps at SafelyYou involves the upkeep and further development of our web applications, on-site hardware deployments, and machine learning pipelines. The right candidate will be able to use operational skills with an architectural mindset to maintain stability and accountability of the SafelyYou products while enabling rapid growth of new services and rapid problem-solving of issues.

  • Security:
    • Responsible for the security of personal data.
    • Knowledge of network segmentation with security groups and VPC networking.
    • Experience with cross-account, cross-region, cross-VPC network transit.
    • Use of client VPNs and zero-trust authorization for access control.
    • Management of identity services with OAuth and SAML.
    • Data encryption in transit and at rest, understanding of encryption keys and certificate management.
  • Stability:
    • Maintain technology operations at SafelyYou.
    • Deep experience with AWS and automated use with Terraform.
    • Upkeep and improvement of web apps running in Kubernetes clusters.
    • Active monitoring stack using Prometheus, Loki, and Grafana, escalated through OpsGenie.
  • Developer experience:
    • Improve developers' experience across different teams.
    • Support fast and continuous deployments with FluxCD and Helm calls.
    • Assist in building firmware with Makefiles and serial connections.
    • Ensure productivity and satisfaction for developers with low cycle times and high feature throughput.
  • Data management:
    • Manage large amounts of data from devices and apps.
    • Ensure data is stored securely, cataloged, used for machine learning training, analytics, and deleted when necessary.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience managing AWS resources in a professional setting.
  • 5-7 years implementing DevOps practices in a small-to-medium business.
  • 1-3 years managing standalone Linux platforms.
  • 1-3 years managing machine learning pipelines.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of AWS services and cost-saving strategies.
  • Strong understanding of Linux internals.
  • Broad interests in technology, including login security, database architecture, and SoC chip design.
  • Experience with Agile development practices, comfortable with Scrum or Kanban boards.
  • Strong motivation to seek improvements and set personal task lists.
  • Automation-focused mindset to eliminate toil and ensure thorough testing.
  • Empathetic team player who values kindness and collaboration.
