Role Description
We are excited to welcome a Senior Rails Developer to join our growing Kolide team here at 1Password, whose focus is endpoint security and user-friendly solutions that help to communicate security issues in simple, accessible, and effective ways for everyday users.
- Contribute to our technical roadmap and participate in architectural decisions.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence within and beyond your team.
- Enhance our platform with a focus on visibility into device security.
- Shape the foundation of 1Password’s Rails engineering practices.
- Collaborate in a remote-first environment with autonomy to lead impactful projects.
- Mentor and inspire engineers across the organization.
- Work on a key product central to 1Password’s vision of a safer, simpler digital future.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US, with periodic travel to meet up with your team and leaders for on-sites.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience building and scaling complex SaaS platforms with Ruby on Rails.
- Proven track record of contributing to technical initiatives and delivering impactful results.
- Strong expertise in database architecture and optimization.
- Familiarity with modern Rails front-end tech, including Stimulus and Turbo.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical details clearly.
- Experience building and scaling applications with a focus on performance and reliability.
- Ability to drive projects to successful completion, ensuring quality standards and deadlines.
- Support engineers in solving complex problems and foster a culture of innovation.
- Focus on customer needs to enhance user experience.
Requirements
- Contribute to the design and implementation of core systems.
- Drive the development of APIs, authentication systems, and customer-facing UI.
- Implement enhancements using modern Rails features like Hotwire, Stimulus, and Turbo.
- Solve complex technical problems and serve as a technical leader and mentor.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Collaborate with product, design, and security leaders on cross-functional projects.
- Participate in code reviews and help teammates adhere to best practices.
- Rotate through "on-call" responsibilities to assist other engineers.
