Role Description
At Odds Scanner we are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our growing team in Lisbon. Being part of the dynamic tech team, you will be modernizing our platform while managing critical business needs.
- Oversee the modernization of backend systems while ensuring seamless business operations.
- Design and develop scalable solutions using modern frameworks and AI technologies.
- Optimize large-scale MariaDB databases for enhanced performance and maintainability.
- Mentor junior developers through code reviews and pair programming.
- Define and implement engineering best practices, including testing, version control and coding standards.
- Balance technical debt reduction with fast-paced feature developments.
- Architect new API services following modern design patterns.
- Implement agile methodologies to streamline development processes.
- Work closely with project management to align technical roadmaps with business goals.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working in software development.
- 2 years of experience mentoring junior developers.
- Fluency in both English and Portuguese.
- Experience modernizing legacy systems and working with large-scale databases.
- Track record of successful system transformations.
- Understanding of API design patterns.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with PHP and Python frameworks as well as implementing AI/ML would be nice to have, but not required.
