Role Description

This role involves being a Principal Data Engineer at TCGplayer, a part of eBay, focusing on improving the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of datastores.

Act as a subject matter expert for MongoDB, offering guidance and creating materials for other technologists.
Provide leadership on cross-application datastore-related projects, including security, software currency, and data governance.
Consult on database design for application datastores and optimize for performance and scalability.
Write minimal yet effective code, primarily database queries for data management and proof-of-concepts.
Collaborate with teams to develop data flow strategies and define data storage requirements for microservices.
Guide selection of appropriate datastore technologies for new and replatformed applications.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
12 years or more experience in designing datastores, data architectures, and data flows.
Mastery of data modeling and query/aggregation design for MongoDB, with significant experience in RDBMS technologies (PostgreSQL preferred).
Significant experience designing and implementing datastores for microservices and event-driven applications.
Experience with implementing and supporting data governance within medium-to-large organizations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to influence collaboration across functional roles and levels.

Requirements

Expertise in MongoDB and experience with RDBMS technologies.
Ability to design and implement scalable data architectures.
Experience in optimizing database performance and scalability.
Proficiency in writing database queries and managing data flows.

Benefits

Base pay range: $132,000 - $222,100.
Potential for target bonus and restricted stock units.
