Role Description
TCGplayer is seeking a passionate and driven Chief Technology Officer, Head of Engineering to join us in our quest to build the most trusted platform to connect and empower the hobby community.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary customer-first engineering team that supports all facets of our tools and infrastructure.
- Coordinate synergies with eBay’s infrastructure, software, and services where it makes sense.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies that support the company's aggressive growth goals.
- Ensure optimal organizational design (including offshoring) for team efficiency.
- Ensure the rapid and efficient delivery of software solutions by optimizing development processes.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators to ensure department goals are met.
- Partner closely with the Product team and cross-functionally with the full organization.
- Guide and develop a high-performing team of 150-200 engineers through leadership and mentoring.
- Oversee the architecture and technical design of software products for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 15+ years of experience in software engineering.
- At least 5+ years in a senior leadership role within a large globally distributed organization.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong technical acumen with experience balancing fast delivery against technical debt.
- Experience navigating public cloud environments (AWS, GCP).
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in strategic workforce and remote resource planning.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Passion for trading card games! (nice to have)

- Experience participating as a key member of a strong cross-functional leadership team.
- Experience navigating and managing stakeholders in a large global business.
Benefits
- The base pay range for this position is expected in the range of $202,800 - $305,400.
- Total compensation package may include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units.
- Full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits.
