Role Description

This role involves leading the transformation of figure creation at BioRender, focusing on intelligent, intuitive, and automated processes while maintaining scientific accuracy and visual quality.

  • Invent and scale ML-powered figure generation from natural language descriptions into accurate, editable, and publication-ready scientific figures.
  • Design multimodal learning systems that understand relationships between biological text, icons, diagrams, and templates.
  • Build generative visual models using BioRender’s proprietary dataset of tens of millions of labeled scientific icons, diagrams, templates, and user-generated figures.
  • Develop user-facing creative ML tools that enhance user experience, including intelligent figure auto-complete and layout optimization.
  • Ship high-impact ML infrastructure that powers new experiences across BioRender's ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • Experience in building and leading frontier ML teams in generative modeling, computer vision, or multimodal learning.
  • Deep understanding of generative models (transformers, diffusion, image/text embedding models) applied to real-world creative workflows.
  • Curiosity about biology and motivation to help scientists share discoveries faster and clearer.
  • Ability to lead with clarity and ambition, setting technical vision and prioritizing for innovation.

Requirements

  • Experience shipping products with millions of users.
  • Holistic thinking about model training, UX scaffolding, latency tradeoffs, prompt design, evaluation frameworks, and safety/guardrails.
