Role Description
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Edge team at Zapier. This role blends strategy, technical leadership, and people-first management. You’ll support the Edge team in building and maintaining key infrastructure and services that power our automation platform.
- Construct and monitor: Your team will build and run our vital business services, affectionately known as 'Zaps'.
- Execute and Authenticate: Your team will be responsible for executing and authenticating actions within our system.
- Enable and Empower: Collaborating with other team leaders, you'll align technological advancements with broader company objectives.
- Own and Evolve: You'll take ownership of business metrics and work diligently towards their development.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience managing teams of Backend Engineers.
- Experience in hiring, training, and developing engineers from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in setting goals, metrics, and strategy for a product-focused Engineering team.
- Strong communication skills to balance engineering and product concerns.
- Strong background in leading a team of Engineers working in our stack (Python, Django or React, ES6 or Node.js).
- Experience in fast-growing companies and adaptability to change.
Requirements
- Ability to track, prioritize, and lead multiple projects.
- Experience in mentoring engineers and helping them grow in their careers.
- Participation in code reviews and spreading technical knowledge throughout Zapier.
- Ability to collaborate across various disciplines (Product Managers, Designers, Researchers).
- Experience in actively recruiting, onboarding, and training new engineers.
