Role Description
This role oversees a team responsible for managing critical database and NoSQL infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and performance across multiple platforms, including Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Postgres, and emerging database technologies.
- Lead and mentor a team of database and NoSQL engineers, fostering growth, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for database infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of database environments, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Development, Product, and Architecture) to support business needs and improve operational efficiency.
- Promote automation and DevOps best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risks.
- Manage performance tuning and troubleshooting for critical production systems.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices (e.g., PCIDSS, ITIL, SAFe).
- Foster a customer-centric mindset, ensuring quick and effective responses to internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience managing database or platform engineering teams in an enterprise environment.
- Strong expertise in Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Couchbase, or Redis.
- Understanding of ITIL, SAFe, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
Requirements
- Certifications in Oracle, AWS/Azure, ITIL, or SAFe.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
- Experience in high-availability, multi-terabyte databases and large-scale distributed systems.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes-based deployments.
