Role Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced DBA/Database Developer with expertise in Oracle to PostgreSQL migration and a strong background in AWS cloud services. The ideal candidate will play a key role in migrating, optimizing, and managing databases while ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability. This position requires a deep understanding of database architecture, migration tools, and cloud-based database solutions. This position is fully remote and requires an active Secret clearance or higher.
Responsibilities

Database Migration:
- Plan, design, and execute Oracle to PostgreSQL migration projects, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Analyze existing Oracle schemas, stored procedures, and triggers to create optimized PostgreSQL equivalents.
- Leverage tools like AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), ora2pg, or other migration utilities.

Database Design and Development:
- Develop and optimize database schemas, indexes, and queries for PostgreSQL.
- Write and maintain complex SQL scripts, functions, and stored procedures.
- Collaborate with development teams to design scalable database solutions for applications.

Cloud Integration:
- Deploy and manage databases in AWS cloud environments, using services like RDS, Aurora, and EC2.
- Optimize database configurations for performance, cost, and reliability in the cloud.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions in AWS.

Performance Tuning and Optimization:
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies.
- Conduct capacity planning and ensure efficient resource utilization.

Security and Compliance:
- Ensure databases meet security and compliance standards, including encryption and access control.
- Conduct audits and apply patches or updates as needed.

Collaboration and Documentation:
- Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders.
- Create and maintain documentation for database designs, processes, and migrations.
