Role Description

Our Cedar Rapids client is seeking to add a NEW Independent Contractor Producer to their team. This role is ideal for a professional who understands the complexities of the industry and can help motor carriers modernize and scale their independent contractor programs through innovative insurance and risk solutions.

• Build and manage relationships with transportation companies, particularly fleets utilizing or expanding independent contractor capacity.
• Identify opportunities to enhance IC programs through customized insurance and risk management strategies.
• Advise executive leadership on developing scalable IC platforms that align insurance, safety, legal structure, and administration.
• Design and implement risk-sharing models that create stable, predictable insurance outcomes.
• Partner with internal teams to deliver solutions including:
  • Automated onboarding and administrative processes.
  • Claims analytics and performance-driven underwriting improvements.
  • Structuring legally sound IC agreements.
• Analyze client data to identify opportunities for cost reduction, improved safety performance, and margin growth.
• Stay current on transportation market trends, insurance volatility, and regulatory changes impacting IC models.
• Travel as needed for client meetings, industry events, and business development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of transportation insurance experience required.
• Direct experience with independent contractor (IC) models strongly preferred.
• Active Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license required.
• Background in commercial insurance production or risk management.
• Strong understanding of IC structures within trucking or logistics.
• Proven ability to build relationships with executive-level stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate industry trends into actionable solutions.
• Knowledge of underwriting, claims analytics, and insurance program design preferred.
• Strong communication, presentation, and consultative selling skills.
• Self-starter comfortable working in a fully remote environment.
