[Hiring] Head of Institutional Sales @Pairs

Role Description

We’re hiring someone to lead our sales team. Not a fundraiser, and not someone who manages a book of LPs: a sales leader who builds a team that wins sophisticated buyers and keeps winning them.

Your team matches our clients’ raises with the investors who fit them. Each associate holds a book of investor members and client companies. They learn what every investor is looking for, pitch the right company at the right moment, and turn that interest into founder meetings. It’s relationship-led, long-cycle business development with some of the most demanding buyers there are. Done well, it compounds. Send one deal that doesn’t fit, and an investor stops reading.

This is a sales leadership role first. You’ll run six associates and report directly to both founders.

Most of running a sales team is unglamorous, and that’s the part that matters. When conversion dipped on one of our teams, more leads didn’t fix it. Daily standups, weekly reviews of real call recordings and coaching time spent on the people who needed it did. We want someone who already works that way.

What you’ll own:

• The rhythm: a Monday kickoff on priorities and targets, weekly 1:1s with every associate, live call coaching, and a Friday review of every win and loss.
• The numbers: discovery calls, new investors onboarded, pitches, founder meetings and referrals, reported weekly to both founders.
• Conversion: turning investor interest into founder meetings, and finding out why when it doesn’t happen.
• Your team: hiring, onboarding and growing every associate.
• The standard: every introduction your team sends is one you’d put your own name on.
• Senior calls: when a call needs someone senior in the room, that’s you. You’ll also work closely with client success, so every client’s raise keeps moving.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in sales or business development, including leading a team, ideally of five or more people.
• You can tell us what they achieved and who you grew.
• You’ve hired people, coached them and, when it came to it, let them go.
• You’ve sold to sophisticated buyers: institutions, investors, or wealth and financial services clients.
• You’ve worked with family offices or VCs, whether selling to them, working alongside them or raising from them yourself.
• You know how they decide.
• You run a team on numbers, and you know the difference between activity and progress.
• AI tooling and a clean CRM handle your admin, so your hours go to people.

Benefits

• A heavily performance-weighted package: a base salary plus a direct share of your team’s commissions, with no cap on the upside.
• On-target earnings of US$200K to US$300K when the team performs well.
• Fully remote, with a few hours of overlap with US Eastern time.
• A team that is already working, a direct line to both founders, and a seat where the companies defining the future meet the capital that backs them.
