[Hiring] Fast Lane Merchant Outreach & Sales Contractor @Abacus

Role Description

We are looking for a full-time contractor to support merchant outreach, pitch coordination, and close activities for DoorDash's Fast Lane pilot. Fast Lane is a new customer experience designed to help customers get their favorite lunch items from popular restaurants faster during peak lunch hours.

• Creates a dedicated storefront for participating merchants with a smaller set of top-performing SKUs.
• Paired with logistics, merchandising, and merchant prep levers to improve lunch delivery speed and reliability.

Timeline and Commitment:

• Start date: ASAP
• Timeline: Through end of December
• Time commitment: 40 hr / week

Program Goal:

• The goal is to have 20 Fast Lane merchants onboarded by the end of December.
• The contractor should be local to the pilot market and able to travel to participating merchant locations as needed.
• Exact location is still TBD, but potential markets may include Chicago, Atlanta, or NYC.

What You'll Do

• Conduct merchant outreach:
  • Receive a merchant lead list and help move merchants through the outreach funnel.
  • Reach out to account managers or merchants directly, depending on the outreach path provided.
  • Follow up if there is no response after 3 days.
  • Schedule pitch calls.
  • Track outreach status and next steps.
  • Escalate blockers during daily check-ins.
• Support pitch and close process:
  • Prepare merchant-specific context before calls.
  • Join pitch calls when helpful.
  • Track merchant questions and follow-ups.
  • Confirm required store details once a merchant agrees to participate.
  • Help move merchants from interested to closed won.
• Maintain sales pipeline tracking:
  • Keep the merchant outreach and close tracker up to date, including:
    • Merchant name
    • Managed or unmanaged SMB
    • Account rep or merchant contact
    • Outreach status
    • Follow-up date
    • Pitch meeting date
    • Merchant questions or objections
    • Closed win status
    • Next steps and owner
    • Meeting Cadence

We will meet daily for a short check-in to review outreach progress, merchant responses, pitch pipeline, blockers, and next steps.

What Success Looks Like

Success means helping build a strong merchant pipeline and closing enough participating merchants to support the goal of onboarding 20 Fast Lane merchants by the end of December.

• Keeping outreach moving.
• Scheduling pitch meetings quickly.
• Following up consistently.
• Helping merchants get to a clear yes/no decision.

Ideal Candidate

• Organized, proactive, and comfortable communicating with merchants, account managers, and internal DoorDash teams.
• Comfortable with:
  • Conducting structured outreach and follow-up.
  • Coordinating meetings.
  • Preparing for merchant pitch conversations.
  • Tracking details across spreadsheets and internal tools.
  • Communicating clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Driving a sales or outreach process from lead list through close.
• Restaurant, marketplace, operations, or sales experience is a plus, but not required.
• Most important qualities are ownership, clear communication, follow-through, and comfort moving merchants through an outreach and close process.
