Role Description

The Sr. Legal Account Manager is responsible for external law firm and litigation vendor engagement, rate management, panel management and stewardship.

Lead stewardship meetings with vendors and Markel stakeholders, addressing performance, expectations, and opportunities
Manage the onboarding, contracting, and renewal process for legal vendors
Using data analytics identify trends and opportunities to drive law firm utilization, strategy and expense mitigation
Develop and maintain relationships with external law firms and business partners to achieve optimal litigation outcomes
Own legal vendor rate negotiations and panel rates review process
Participate in the preparation of legal vendor performance updates for key partners, senior leaders, and associates
Maintain legal vendor database
Assist with review of attorney/firm billing history and spend
Collaborate with claims leaders to support legal vendor needs

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent work experience
Claims designations and/or certifications, paralegal certificate(s), a plus

Requirements

5 - 7 years of claims account management, general commercial account management experience, and/or senior level claims, insurance, or paralegal law firm experience
Claims litigation experience
Strong presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to both vendors and senior level stakeholders
Proven ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and diligence
