Role Description

The liaison is a reliable, single point of contact for referring providers and newly recruited physicians/APPs. The liaison assists in increasing patient referrals to URM and affiliates by developing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with community practices.

  • Conduct market assessments and outreach
  • Identify the needs of referring providers and recommend changes to existing services and workflows
  • Problem solve by communicating and working with clinical and administrative staff
  • Support the transition and retention of recruited physicians/APPs

Responsibilities

  • Marketing and Relationship Development (60%)
    • Regularly scheduled outreach to practices in the Western Region (counties: Genesee, Wyoming, Orleans)
    • Conduct outreach to Niagara & Erie counties as needed
    • Develop and implement outreach, relationship building, and educational plans
    • Work closely with the Director of Network Development to identify targeted providers
    • Collaborate with URM Leadership to align efforts with regional strategy
    • Educate community-based referrers on the URM health system
    • Facilitate referring provider education of new programs and consultations
    • Visit physician offices to introduce new faculty and communicate changes
    • Provide value-add talking points for marketing materials
    • Identify and coordinate educational events
    • Respond to referral/service problems immediately
    • Investigate new service needs for accessing system services
  • Physician/APP Retention (20%)
    • Orient new faculty physicians/mid-levels to the liaison program
    • Provide support to family members as requested
    • Develop introduction plans with new faculty
    • Assist with transition and retention of newly recruited providers
    • Communicate issues to AVP Regional Network Development & Director of Network Development
    • Maintain updates of retention efforts on the Retention spreadsheet
  • Data Capture & Reporting (20%)
    • Report weekly on outreach activities, problems, solutions, and market intel
    • Maintain current profiles on each key provider
    • Research provider activity and health care trend statistics
    • Stay updated on trends in URM/affiliate inpatient and outpatient volumes
    • Review weekly outreach reports with Director of Network Development

General Expectations

  • Outreach conducted in accordance with department strategic objectives
  • Pre-planned and executed outreach
  • 20+ visits/week is acceptable
  • All outreach conducted in-person during the first 6 months
  • Organize and prioritize outreach and meeting attendance
  • Attend department/affiliate meetings regularly
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor in all work-related interactions
  • Submit reports on time and demonstrate professional writing skills
  • Outreach interactions and expenses/mileage submissions will be audited regularly

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or other allied health professions or equivalent
  • One to three years of progressive experience in physician’s services, patient care, marketing, public relations, communications, practice management, medical sales, or related health care field
  • Self-starter, requiring minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
  • NYS driver’s license required

Confidentiality

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all strategic and other information regarding providers, patients, and the hospitals
  • Protect the confidentiality of information being disseminated

Supervision

  • Duties are performed under the direction of the Director of Network Development
  • Employee plans and arranges own work directed toward established objectives
  • Employee determines action to be taken handling all but unusual cases
