Role Description
This role involves engaging with customers throughout the development lifecycle and utilizing various communication methods to connect with them. As a Senior Solutions Engineer at Okta, you will:
- Collaborate with account executives to develop and execute territory and account strategies to maximize opportunities.
- Conduct research and discovery to understand customer requirements and communicate the business value of cloud technology solutions.
- Execute the delivery of POCs for customers with complex use cases, collaborating with other engineering teams as needed.
- Craft technical content to demonstrate implementation of specific use cases or best practices for new technologies.
- Prepare and deliver demos showcasing how the Okta platform meets customer business needs.
- Distill and communicate customer needs and product feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
Qualifications
- 5+ years pre-sales engineering experience.
- A passion for serving customers, ideally in a solutions engineering role.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively via presentations, slides, and whiteboard.
- Strong understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM) including SSO, MFA, SCIM, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and LDAP.
- Knowledge of lifecycle management, role-based access control (RBAC), and provisioning/deprovisioning.
- Understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and core security concerns within applications.
- Hands-on experience in web, mobile, or backend development is a plus.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Ability to identify, map, and manage multiple personas including IT admins, CISOs, architects, procurement, and legal.
- Confident in dispensing knowledge to a highly skilled audience.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a comparable field is preferred.
Requirements
- Typically 10-25% travel required.
- This role requires in-person onboarding and travel to our San Francisco, CA HQ office during the first week of employment.
