Role Description

This role involves working as a Regional Gift Officer in the Alumni Affairs & Development division at Cornell University, focusing on major gifts fundraising.

Conducts 200 meetings with prospects each year, with at least 150 visits being discovery-oriented with new prospects.
Manages a portfolio of 50 to 75 qualified prospects capable of making gifts of $10,000 or higher.
Cultivates and solicits portfolio prospects to move them to major gifts portfolios in under 3 years.
Nominates prospects to be moved to major gifts portfolios based on discovery meetings and portfolio prospects.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 3-5 years of professional experience.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Effective organizational skills and strong detail orientation.
Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member.
Commitment to values that support Cornell’s mission of initiative, integrity, and excellence.
Ability to work in a system emphasizing measurable objectives.
Willingness to travel extensively, up to 25% of staff time, and to work nights and weekends as needed.
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office and knowledge of relational database management systems.

Requirements

Experience with complex data analysis (experience with PeopleSoft and OBIEE a plus).
