Role Description

The Business Development Manager, Biologics position is leading the execution of the commercial strategy for USP portfolio of standards and materials for the Biopharmaceutical industry in the United States. This is an important, non-supervisory role responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and accelerating USP’s impact across the biopharmaceutical industry in the United States.

  • Accountable for meeting revenue and units’ growth annual targets in assigned territory (United States).
  • Foster customer relationships at all levels and collaborate with multiple internal USP functions including Technical and Customer Service, Marketing, Regulatory, and Scientific Affairs.
  • Regular account management and business development customer visits.
  • Business leads follow-up and lead generation activities.
  • Distribution channels management.
  • Lead creation and execution of account plans for long-term growth.
  • Identify, understand, and support resolution of key quality challenges faced by developers and manufacturers of biologics drugs.
  • Oversee positioning USP in new high growth therapeutic fields (cell and gene therapies, nucleic acid drugs, monoclonal antibodies, etc.) and markets.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, enjoys collaborative work and strengthening customer relationships.
  • This is a remote position requiring up to 60% domestic travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a life sciences discipline (preferably analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biology, microbiology, biotechnology).
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in the life sciences industry.
  • At least 3 years of experience as an account manager in the life sciences industry, with a track record of consistently meeting sales targets.
  • Proven experience in selling products or services to pharma and biopharma accounts (PD labs and QC labs target functions).
  • Familiarity with bioproduction (mAbs, vaccines, CGT’s) and clinical development process.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-centric approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, data analytical platforms (e.g., Tableau), and CRM (e.g., Salesforce).
