Role Description
The Senior Quality Engineer is an integral member of the operational unit, focused on partnering with suppliers to drive continuous improvement in quality performance. This role serves as an embedded resource, fostering collaboration and supporting operational excellence through proactive monitoring, analysis, and guidance. Work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
The Senior Quality Engineer is important to sustain operational efficiency and continuity within the Resolution Team. By providing training and ongoing support for MHK, you will empower specialists. These empowered specialists can resolve 70% of incident tickets internally, reducing reliance on external vendors, preserving productivity, and ensuring closure of appeals and responses to member needs. This directly impacts the IRE STARs measure, supporting compliance and reducing the risk of STARs-affecting delays.

Serve as an embedded quality partner within the operational unit, working with supplier teams to ensure alignment on quality standards and objectives.

Monitor supplier performance through established metrics, analyze results, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Facilitate regular reviews and discussions with suppliers regarding quality outcomes, trends, and corrective action plans.

Collaborate with operational leaders and supplier representatives to address quality issues and guide resolution.

Support implementing process improvements, training, and best practices to enhance supplier quality performance.

Track, document, and report supplier quality incidents, defects, and corrective actions using designated systems and tools.

Maintain visibility of supplier quality status for operational leadership, providing updates and recommendations.

Guide communication between the operational unit and supplier teams.

Maintain documentation and records on quality performance and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in quality engineering and/or supplier quality management.

Experience with quality performance monitoring, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.

Experience in healthcare or managed care environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams.

Analytical skills with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Ability to operate effectively as an embedded resource within the operational unit, supporting both internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements

At minimum, a download speed of 25 mbps and an upload speed of 10 mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.

Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.

Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience working within Resolution Team.

Strong background in collaborating with external suppliers and operational teams to achieve quality objectives.

Proficiency in quality management tools, incident tracking systems, and reporting platforms.

Role will require occasional night and weekend support, to be available for our operational unit.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$97,900 - $133,500 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
