Role Description
As an SAP ERP QA Lead at Cengage, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, performance, and stability of our SAP S/4HANA ecosystem through well-adapted testing, strong leadership, and best‑practice quality governance. You will be responsible for end‑to‑end QA delivery for large‑scale SAP implementation and enhancement projects, working closely with functional teams, technical collaborators, and business partners to ensure our ERP solutions are reliable and “fit for purpose.”
You will lead test strategy, planning, execution, and reporting across SAP workstreams, while mentoring QA engineers and guiding multi-functional teams in quality standards. This role demands strong SAP domain expertise, hands‑on leadership, and an ability to drive testing in a fast‑paced, enterprise delivery environment.
Key Responsibilities

Quality Leadership & Strategy:

Own and lead end‑to‑end QA strategy, processes, standards, and governance for SAP S/4HANA and integrated enterprise systems.

Define quality benchmarks, dashboards, and release‑readiness indicators to enable clear, data‑driven decision‑making across the organization.

Functional & Integration Testing:
-
Lead full‑cycle functional, integration, regression, and end‑to‑end testing across SAP modules including FI/CO, SD, MM, PP, SCM, order to cash, procure to pay, record to report, and Finance.

Validate end‑to‑end business processes such as pricing, order management, billing, payments, subscriptions, and entitlement management.

Coordinate with multiple QA teams to ensure validation across eCommerce, CRM, and internal platforms.

Automation & Framework Ownership:

Enhance, maintain, and scale automation frameworks for SAP UI, Fiori apps, APIs, and backend processes.

Identify automation candidates based on business impact, process criticality, and return on investment across S/4HANA workstreams.

Agile Delivery & Collaboration Across Multiple Functions:

Participate actively within Agile teams by participating in sprint planning, CAB Release, and preparations for deployment.

Collaborate with product owners, functional analysts, solution architects, engineering, and business participants to ensure test coverage aligns with requirements.

Mentor QA team members in SAP testing methodologies, structured test design, and automation standards.

Quality Governance:

Lead and define Quality strategies, evaluations of potential risks, and executive-level quality updates.

Handle defect lifecycle, triage discussions, root-cause analysis, and production validation across SAP deployments.

Vendor & Resource Management:

Lead onshore/offshore QA vendors: set expectations, review work, and implement quality standards.

Plan resources, balance team workload, and ensure on-time delivery of all test phases.

Business Partnership & UAT Leadership:
-
Serve as the primary QA interface for business partners, providing insight into test progress, risks, and release readiness.

Translate business requirements into detailed test scenarios, edge cases, compliance checks, and risk-based validations.

Lead and coordinate UAT preparation and execution with SMEs and business teams, ensuring production readiness.
Qualifications
-
10 - 12+ years of SAP testing experience across core functional areas (OTC or RTR).

Experience leading test cycles (SIT, UAT, regression) within SAP programs.

Shown understanding of SAP business processes, RICEF objects, and integration flows.

Hands‑on experience writing test strategies, test plans, test cases, and traceability matrices.

Skilled at leading defect triage, risk assessments, and reporting.

Proficiency with Jira, and Agile/Scrum delivery.

Good communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
-
Strong analytical and hands‑on testing abilities.
Requirements

Familiarity with APIs, middleware, Fiori or workstreams like PTP etc.

Experience with SAP automation frameworks or automated testing tools.

Prior experience mentoring quality assurance professionals or leading distributed teams.

Understanding of testing across connected ecosystems (eCommerce, CRM, billing, subscription platforms).

Experience building quality dashboards, critical metrics, or release‑readiness reports.

Familiar with test management tools like Zephyr.

Compensation
The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
