Role Description
The Quality Assurance Director oversees the Quality System for the Environment, Health, & Safety conventional labs in the US and communicates the status of those systems to executive management. This is accomplished primarily through training, auditing, and informational site meetings. The QA Director role is critical to the regulatory compliance and customer service of the company. The QA Director may delegate specific tasks to additional staff with the understanding that the QA Director retains oversight, authority, and responsibility in these areas.

Manages, supports, and coordinates QA efforts across conventional lab sites.

Assures quality systems and testing processes comply and meet the current standards of regulatory agencies and customer expectations; ensures quality systems are as consistent as possible across US laboratories.

Implements quality improvements to enhance lab compliance efforts to promote operational excellence that increases laboratory efficiency and/or decreases quality costs thereby providing the company with a competitive advantage.

Assists site locations in drafting responses to audit reports from customers and regulatory agencies; involves staff in feedback from audits and inspections for the purpose of instruction and continuing staff development.

Acts as a regulatory resource for SGS customers; ensures that all customer requests for information pertaining to current regulations are met promptly and effectively; addresses all customer problems and complaints.

Ensures laboratory staff and management are current with industry regulations and compliance news by attending industry meetings and workshops and by acquiring and evaluating current guidelines; organizes ongoing training on issues pertaining to regulatory compliance.

Leads projects designed to measure specific quality parameters and provide organized, evaluated information to corporate officers and department heads; includes trending programs to measure key performance indicators of all US sites.

Participates in intercompany quality decisions and communicates staff developments and ideas between all SGS facilities.

Ensures a Quality Assurance review system operates efficiently and effectively at all SGS US locations.

Oversees and coordinates the quality system to ensure that TNI standards, ISO17025, DOD standards are satisfied, as required.

Oversees and coordinates state accreditations to ensure redundancy necessary to support operations.

Oversight of the quality system which includes CARs, responses to Data Inquiries, PT programs, MDL studies, etc.

Implements KPIs scorecard for local QA functions.
Qualifications

5+ years of environmental laboratory experience with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or management capacity.

Thorough knowledge of environmental regulatory standards and programs.

Proven expertise in QA methodologies, testing frameworks, and industry best practices.

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

Bachelor's degree in a science-related field (or equivalent in training + experience).

Minimum 5 years experience in a TNI or ISO 17025 laboratory setting.
