The role
We are seeking an experienced and pragmatic Engineering Manager, QA to lead and evolve Quality Assurance at LucidLink. This is a hands-on leadership role with both strategic and executional ownership: you will define what “quality” means for our product and organization today, and actively drive the systems, processes, and behaviors that raise that bar over time.
You will work across the entire engineering organization, shaping QA as a function in a distributed / dotted-line model, while building alignment, consistency, and measurable outcomes. This role is critical to helping LucidLink scale quality without slowing delivery across desktop, mobile, and web platforms.
What you’ll do
Strategic leadership
Define and execute a forward-looking QA strategy aligned with LucidLink’s product, architecture, and growth stage.
Clearly define what “quality” means at different levels of product maturity, and how it is measured.
Establish a QA Center of Excellence to standardize principles, practices, tooling, and reporting across engineering.
Hands-on execution
Actively drive implementation early on: design and pilot processes, introduce tooling, and unblock teams.
Partner with engineers and QA practitioners to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Balance speed and rigor by introducing the right level of process for a fast-growing organization.
Operating model & team development
Lead QA as a function across engineering, including a dotted-line / embedded setup where QA engineers may sit in product teams.
Coach and mentor QA professionals at varying levels of seniority, developing both technical and leadership skills.
Build a strong, collaborative QA community across teams—even when not all reports are direct.
Modern tooling & AI adoption
Drive innovation in testing methodologies, automation, and performance testing where they provide clear ROI.
Proactively evaluate and adopt AI-assisted QA and testing tools to improve coverage, signal quality, and delivery speed.
Maintain a pragmatic mindset: adopt new tools where they help, challenge them where they don’t.
Tooling & vendor ownership
Own QA tooling strategy, including selection, rollout, governance, and value measurement.
Manage vendor relationships and procurement input related to quality and testing solutions.
Cross-functional collaboration
Partner closely with engineering leadership, product management, and architecture to ensure quality is built in—not inspected at the end.
Act as a strong advocate for quality, influencing decision-making through data, clarity, and credibility.
Raise the overall maturity of QA as a function without creating unnecessary overhead.
What we’re looking for
5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, with at least 2–3 years in an engineering or QA leadership role within a scaling organization.
Strong technical foundation; comfortable working across desktop, mobile, and web systems.
Practical understanding of test automation and where it delivers ROI (hands-on automation experience is a strong plus, but not the only path to success).
Comfortable operating beyond “web-only QA” (e.g., using terminals, debugging builds, navigating OS-level tooling when needed).
Proven experience building or evolving QA processes in environments with ambiguity and change.
Pragmatic and curious mindset toward AI-assisted tooling—open to experimentation and adoption, not dismissive.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence without formal authority.
Strong people leadership skills, especially in distributed or dotted-line team structures.
What success looks like
First 30–60 days
Assess the current QA landscape, tooling, and workflows.
Baseline quality metrics and pain points.
Define what “quality” means for LucidLink today and propose a practical, phased roadmap.
First 6–12 months
Execute the QA roadmap across two tracks:
Processes and systems integrated into CI/CD and day-to-day delivery
Team capability growth through coaching, training, and selective hiring
Improve visibility, consistency, and confidence in product quality across engineering.
Why Join Us?
This is your chance to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a rapidly scaling organization. By driving excellence in quality assurance, you’ll directly impact millions of users worldwide while helping us achieve our vision of becoming an industry leader.
If you are passionate about building high-quality products at scale and thrive in fast-paced environments, we’d love to hear from you!
