Role Description
The U.S. Oil & Gas Strategic Coordinator is a senior position that will work with Oil Change International staff and core partners to bring together strategies from across the fossil fuel phaseout movement to articulate a comprehensive multi-year effort to limit oil and gas production in the United States. This is a two-year position, the first phase of which will focus on strategy alignment, and subsequent phases aimed at supporting efforts to raise resources at scale and supporting partners to implement shared plans.
- Convene & support a core set of partners in designing and implementing a stakeholder process to identify and align key long-term strategies to address the undue influence of the fossil fuel industry and to limit oil & gas production in the US.
- Convene regular meetings of core partners, design clear agendas and facilitate meetings effectively to move people through discussion to decision to action.
- Coordinate & support core partners in implementing agreed action steps between regular meetings.
- Coordinate, support, and participate in outreach to organizations and individuals to engage in a stakeholder process.
- Project manage and support core partners and outside facilitators to articulate the parameters of and implement a stakeholder process.
- Support core strategy partners and contracted facilitators to develop the substantive content of a 2-3 day meeting of approximately 100 participants.
- Manage financial support and other resources to enable active participation from frontline and grassroots organizations.
- Support core partners in tracking relevant emerging issues, initiatives and shifts in climate, energy and relevant progressive movement and political spaces.
- Maintain regular communication with international partners in the Global Gas & Oil Network.
Qualifications
- 8 years of experience working in the U.S. climate and energy policy and/or movement space, preferably with a social justice and progressive non-profit lens.
- 3 or more years of experience in a senior role involving project management, strategy development, and campaign execution.
- Excellent project management skills, including timely follow-through and demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Deep knowledge of, trusted relationships with, and demonstrated acumen in working with actors across the broad landscape of climate and energy movements and politics in the U.S.
- Excellent facilitation skills, particularly in convening diverse groups and supporting coalitions to develop joint strategies and achieve collective goals.
- Good knowledge of U.S. climate and energy policy, specifically as related to fossil fuel extraction and infrastructure.
- Experience managing consultants, including articulating clear terms of reference with clear objectives.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in social justice; sensitivity to issues of privilege, including class, gender and race.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; working knowledge of additional language(s) a plus.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of Oil Change International, social and environmental justice, and a collaborative, team-oriented work style.

Working Conditions
- Standard office environment / Remote
- Travel: 3 to 4 weeks of domestic travel should be expected each year, more may be requested.
Salary
The salary for this position is ~$100,000 commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
