[Hiring] Senior Technical Project Manager @VIDA.place

Role Description

Becoming part of our Data Solutions team means leading geospatial projects that decide where infrastructure money goes — across energy, climate, health and infrastructure in 40+ countries — and owning the client relationship end to end.

We're looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager with a strong GIS background, working remotely from Europe or Africa, or from our Munich or Nairobi office, and who is as comfortable in a ministry workshop as in a technical discussion with our Data Scientists.

Your responsibilities:

• Lead geospatial client projects from scope to delivery — on time, in scope and on budget
• Be the primary contact for governments, donors and development partners, primarily in Africa, including workshops and occasional travel to project countries
• Translate partner needs into workplans and technical requirements, and steer our Data Scientists' workstreams, from data collection and validation to quality
• Ensure deliverables meet client requirements and are usable by end-users, and report progress with high-quality reports and presentations
• Shape scopes and proposals together with our business team

Qualifications

• Master's (or equivalent experience) in Geospatial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field
• 5+ years delivering technical projects for governments and donors (World Bank, EU, AfDB, UN, bilateral donors) — running the client relationship
• Proven lead of multi-partner projects, ideally from a consulting firm; experience with product teams is a plus
• Strong hands-on GIS (QGIS / ArcGIS), working knowledge of Python, R or SQL and cloud workflows (e.g. GCP / BigQuery), and an AI-first mindset
• Entrepreneurial and happy to build processes that don't exist yet
• Intercultural communicator who handles competing priorities and cares about sustainable, inclusive development
• Professional fluency in English; professional working French (C1) is a strong plus but not required

Benefits

• Mission: VIDA is more than just another software company. As our work goes beyond lines of code and interfaces you'll have the chance to create tangible impact in real lives.
• Impact & growth: We are still a small team, which means you'll have real ownership, short decision paths, and the opportunity to shape both your role and the company.
• Diversity: Our team's diversity is truly exceptional. With more than 15 nationalities on board already today and team members spread across the globe, you'll connect and learn from a wide range of perspectives.
• Participation in our VSOP program: At VIDA, all team members are included in our VSOP program, ensuring everyone shares in our success.
• Remote working & flexibility: We're strong advocates of autonomy and flexibility. We allow you to determine where in Europe or Africa you get your stuff done most effectively. In case you're based in Munich or Nairobi, we're happy to have you joining our small, cosy offices, too!
• Contract: Permanent and full-time (40h/week).
• Tech & tools: We understand the importance of having the right tools to empower your work and will provide you with the latest technology and tools.
• Setup budget: 500€ setup budget for any home office equipment of your choice.
• 28 vacation days + public holidays in your country of residence.
