Role Description

A Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for the scope, schedule, cost, quality, and client satisfaction of a project throughout its entire lifecycle, from Initiating through Closing phases. The PM depends on the help of other people to perform most of the actual activities of the project. A project manager’s role is primarily focused around written and verbal communication to all project stakeholders.

• Overseeing and performing project management functions on all Sports Venue projects, budgets, and scopes.
• Acting as the person responsible on assigned projects with direct control over all project activities.
• Mentoring other Project Managers within the company.
• Assigned the largest, most complex, and sensitive projects.
• Providing direction to a wide range of internal and external personnel.

What You’ll Do

• Daily activities include project communications, scheduling, task lists for technicians, managing deliverables from engineering, CAD, and Programming, and overseeing project completion.
• Completing systems integration projects on time, on budget, and achieving high customer satisfaction.
• Managing projects and communicating with all project stakeholders.
• Following and helping to improve established Diversified processes.
• Developing strong long-term relationships with clients.
• Managing client relationships, including expectations, communications, and satisfaction.
• Coordinating and communicating project activities.
• Providing clear leadership and ownership for projects.
• Coordinating all activities for timely, accurate, and on-budget project completion.
• Providing support and assistance to team members as needed.
• Ensuring appropriate and frequent communication between stakeholders and resolving conflicts.
• Designing, planning, and coordinating work teams for Sports Venue installation projects.
• Establishing and maintaining communication with Account Executives, Directors, installation technicians, subcontractors, clients, etc.
• Leading a team on large projects when required.
• Developing and communicating project updates as required.
• Monitoring labor, equipment, and materials budgets.
• Providing and/or directing technical and administrative support to project team members.
• Developing and maintaining all related project schedules.
• Performing field verification of prospective work sites and documenting issues.
• Coordinating all drawings and documentation between stakeholders.
• Facilitating design reviews to assure proper documentation in the field.
• Coordinating system programming and final checkout of systems.
• Providing punch-lists of remaining tasks after substantial completion.
• Contracting with contractors and other trades when necessary.
• Monitoring project status including cost, timing, and staffing.
• Ensuring quality and continuous improvement.
• Coordinating training & turnover of projects to clients, service department, & sales.

Complexity

Every project is different and every set of project stakeholders is different. The PM needs to negotiate a complex set of variables between system design, site conditions, and varying expectations with multiple stakeholders. The skill of communicating both verbally and in writing to manage these variables requires a high level of awareness, emotional intelligence, and people management skills.

Decision Making Authority

• Takes full ownership of the project.
• Acts as the single point of responsibility and accountability for the project.
• Ensures schedule performance, quality of solution delivered to client, and client satisfaction.
• Manages and reports on the project’s financials, ensuring budget performance and profitability.
• Ensures timely and correct billings to clients.
• Demonstrates proactivity, responsiveness, and follow-through.
• Communicates decision options to stakeholders and manages those decisions.
• Manages a complex array of decisions at every point of the project.

Physical Working Environment

• Employee may be exposed to construction site conditions regularly.
• Responsible for safety while on job sites and compliance with safety regulations.
• Use of PPE is usually required on job sites.
• Can spend at least 40% of time on their feet and mobile around the construction site.
• Ability to occasionally climb ladders, use stairs, and lift/move materials up to 20 pounds.
• Regularly required to use keyboards, test equipment, and controls for SI installation projects.
• Normal office conditions when not on construction sites, requiring use of office equipment.

Travel

• Frequent travel by car and airplane is required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license in their state of residence.
• Required to use their own vehicle, reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate.
• Local travel to job sites (within a 2-hour driving distance each way) will make up 70-90% of the job.
• Remote travel can be up to 30% of the job at times.
• 10% remote travel is required regularly.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience (Technical, engineering, construction management, or business discipline preferred).
• Advanced leadership or project management training preferred.
• Industry certifications (AVIXA, broadcast, media systems) preferred.
• MS Project proficient; mastery of MS Project preferred.
• Minimum 5-8+ years of progressive project management experience.
• Experience working on a construction site.
• Proven estimating experience in construction.
• Demonstrated success delivering complex, high-value projects.
• Prior experience as a Project Manager required.
• Strong preference for hands-on experience in installation, engineering, and field leadership.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage customer relationships in high-pressure environments.
