Role Description

The Senior Program Manager, Operations is responsible for managing multiple concurrent projects, ensuring work is delivered on schedule, within scope, and within budget. Working closely with a collaborative, engaged, and results-oriented team, this role will coordinate project activities, manage risks and dependencies, monitor progress, and provide clear reporting to leadership.

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of delivering complex projects and programs, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive results in dynamic environments. The ideal candidate is highly self-directed, action-oriented, and comfortable navigating changing priorities and evolving requirements. They thrive in remote-first environments, take initiative, and contribute positively to a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. They are comfortable working across a variety of digital tools and platforms and can quickly adapt as organizational systems and processes evolve.

This is an individual contributor role focused on collaborative project and program delivery rather than direct people management.

This is a full-time fixed-term employment position with an initial term of ten (10) months and the possibility of renewal based on organizational needs, project requirements, and available funding. The successful candidate will have the option to work either four (4) or five (5) days per week, with salary prorated accordingly. We also offer flexibility in daily working hours, provided the candidate can accommodate our core working hours (10:00 AM to 3:00 PM EST) as much as possible.

  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, deliverables, and workback timelines.
  • Coordinate activities across project teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners to ensure projects remain aligned and on track.
  • Monitor project performance and proactively resolve issues affecting timelines, budgets, resources, or deliverables.
  • Manage project interdependencies, competing priorities, and resource constraints across multiple initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with agreed objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Maintain focus on outcomes and execution while balancing immediate priorities with longer-term objectives.

Governance and Reporting

  • Establish and maintain effective project governance, controls, and reporting processes.
  • Prepare and deliver regular project status updates, dashboards, risk reports, and executive briefings.
  • Track project progress against established goals, timelines, budgets, and key performance indicators.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, decision logs, and reporting records.
  • Provide leadership with timely visibility into project performance, risks, dependencies, and emerging issues.

Risk and Issue Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Develop mitigation plans and corrective actions to address project challenges.
  • Escalate critical issues appropriately and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Monitor project health and implement recovery plans when required.

Resource and Budget Management

  • Work with project leads to develop project budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.
  • Monitor expenditures and identify potential budget variances.
  • Coordinate resource requirements with team members and project stakeholders.
  • Support effective allocation and utilization of project resources.

Process Improvement and Operational Excellence

  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery practices, workflows, and operational processes.
  • Support the development and adoption of standardized project management tools, templates, and reporting practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Document lessons learned and promote best practices across projects and operational initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience managing programs, projects, or operational initiatives. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in dynamic, evolving, and self-directed environments where initiative, adaptability, and sound judgment are essential.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, governance, budgeting, risk management, and reporting practices.
  • Experience developing project plans, tracking deliverables, managing dependencies, and driving execution.
  • Strong experience working in remote or distributed teams using digital collaboration, communication, document management, and project management platforms.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet) and related collaboration tools.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, systems, and digital workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships and contribute positively to a collaborative team culture.
  • Proven ability to take ownership, solve problems, and move work forward with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Attributes

  • Experience working within a project management, operations, or project governance environment.
  • Experience leading organization-wide initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, external partners, vendors, or service providers.
  • Experience working in both Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Experience supporting operational improvements, process optimization, technology implementations, or organizational change initiatives.
  • Experience gained in two or more of the following environments: nonprofit, corporate, consulting, professional services, or service-delivery organizations.

Benefits
