[Hiring] Scrum Master / QA Test Engineer @Aretum

Role Description

Aretum is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scrum Master/QA Test Engineer to join our team supporting a large-scale federal technology modernization program. As a Scrum Master, you will be responsible for facilitating all scrum ceremonies (i.e.: stand-ups, backlog refinement, planning, reviews) as well as managing/updating documentation. As a QA Test Engineer, you will be responsible for validating application quality across multiple testing disciplines: functional testing, test automation, integration, accessibility, and performance testing.

• Work as an embedded member of an Agile scrum team, executing manual and automated tests within sprint cycles.
• Build and maintain automation frameworks.
• Evaluate UI code for WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance, integration, and conduct load and performance testing before major releases.
• Facilitate and communicate findings clearly to developers, product owners, and program leadership.

Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of applicable experience in software quality assurance and testing.
• Bachelor's degree (or 2 years of additional experience).
• Certified Scrum Master (or equivalent certification, or 2 years of experience as a Scrum Master).
• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks, including Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Experience in creating and maintaining system integration test cases / scenarios.
• 1+ year of experience with Selenium and/or Playwright for end-to-end browser automation.
• 1+ year of experience with performance and load testing tools such as NeoLoad or JMeter.
• Experience writing BDD test scenarios using Cucumber/Gherkin syntax.
• Proficiency with API testing tools such as Postman and Rest Assured.
• Working knowledge of digital accessibility testing, including WCAG 2.1 AA standards and Section 508 compliance.
• Experience with manual screen reader testing using JAWS or NVDA.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred).
• Strong defect documentation skills.
• Familiarity with code quality tools such as SonarQube.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with creation and maintenance of project documentation such as user guides, system changes, system guides, etc.

Requirements

• Organize, conduct, and schedule all Scrum ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Train and coach team members on agile processes, methods, and tasks.
• Maintain and groom the backlog, facilitating thorough and productive backlog grooming sessions.
• Manage agile/project artifacts, ensuring all project tracking and documentation are up-to-date.
• Track progress towards project delivery goals and provide leadership with high-level summaries and updates.
• Execute functional testing of web application features.
• Build, maintain, and expand automated regression test suites.
• Create and maintain automated API test collections.
• Create and maintain integration test cases / scenarios.
• Perform digital accessibility evaluations on coded solutions.
• Document accessibility findings with specific WCAG success criteria references.
• Execute load and performance tests using NeoLoad, JMeter, or equivalent tools.
• Maintain test plans and test cases in Confluence linked to Jira stories.
• Collaborate with developers to define clear acceptance criteria and test criteria.
• Participate fully in Agile ceremonies within a scrum framework.
• Maintain CI-integrated test suites at a 95% pass rate or above.
• Support production triage when assigned.
• Contribute to test strategy improvements and knowledge sharing across the project team.
