[Hiring] Release Train Engineer @McKesson

2d ago - McKesson is hiring a remote Release Train Engineer. πŸ’Έ Salary: usd 115,400 - 192,300 per year πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

As the dedicated Shared Product Capabilities Value Stream Release Train Engineer, you will serve as the chief facilitator, enabling alignment, execution, and continuous improvement across multiple teams and across the product value streams that depend on their work. Operating within the CoverMyMeds SAFe Operating Model and Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) framework, you will establish the operating cadence that enables work to flow seamlessly from strategy through delivery. This role enables alignment and execution across the system and does not own product priorities, technical architecture, team-level delivery decisions, or people management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Operating Model Transformation Team and Product Operations to design, facilitate, and continuously improve value stream and ART-level operating cadences, including PI Planning, ART Syncs, Scrum of Scrums, Product Owner Syncs, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and PI execution reviews.
  • Establish a consistent operating rhythm that enables alignment and execution, and lead large-scale, cross-functional planning and execution events involving multiple teams, competing priorities, and real-time decision-making.
  • Ensure teams and leaders are prepared for PI Planning by aligning priorities, capacity, dependencies, risks, objectives, and backlog readiness.
  • Facilitate Program Board creation and planning alignment, confidence voting, risk ROAMing, and the capture of committed and stretch PI objectives.
  • Ensure cross-team dependencies, risks, blockers, and impediments are visible and actively managed across the value stream.
  • Monitor and improve flow across the system by identifying and addressing systemic bottlenecks, mediating cross-team conflicts and dependency trade-offs, and proactively escalating issues that cannot be resolved at the team level.
  • Track performance, flow metrics, ART health, and delivery outcomes to improve predictability and execution confidence.
  • Lead Inspect & Adapt workshops, retrospectives, problem-solving sessions, and improvement backlogs that strengthen ART health and delivery performance.
  • Act as a connective force across Product Management, Technology, User Experience, Data, portfolio partners, and business leadership.
  • Use AI-assisted tools to enhance facilitation, scenario modeling, and dependency management across the ART.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience and typically 7+ years of relevant professional experience in Agile delivery, program delivery, product development, technology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Agile teams in a scaled environment and leading large, cross-functional planning and execution events.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAFe, Lean, Scrum, Kanban, PI Planning, dependency management, flow, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Advanced facilitation, coaching, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop practical approaches to complex problems, apply sound judgment with limited direction, anticipate change, and redirect efforts as needed.
  • Ability to influence without formal authority and communicate credibly with delivery teams, senior leaders, and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to connect delivery patterns, risks, dependencies, and organizational outcomes.
  • Experience using Agile planning and collaboration tools such as Atlassian and Miro.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on use of AI tools to improve delivery work, including planning preparation, story and objective drafting, reporting, and analysis.

Preferred Skills

  • SAFe Release Train Engineer, SAFe Practice Consultant, SAFe Agilist, Certified ScrumMaster, Agile Coach, PMP, or comparable certification.
  • Experience supporting healthcare technology products such as prior authorization, benefits verification, payer or EHR connectivity, medication access, or another healthcare delivery environment.
  • Experience with AI-assisted facilitation, predictive delivery insights, scenario modeling, or automation of Agile metrics and reporting.
  • Experience working in a product-led operating model or value stream environment spanning product, engineering, data, user experience, and business teams.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
  • Pay range: $115,400 - $192,300.
