Role Description

Project Specialists provide administrative and programmatic support through all stages of the federal and state grant program lifecycle:

• Pre-award review
• Project implementation
• Progress monitoring
• Award closeout

Responsibilities include:

• Communicating expectations and requirements with project applicants
• Analyzing proposals and budgets
• Ensuring compliance with established program requirements
• Providing coordination between Local, State, and Federal levels of government and other entities

This is a remote position. Travel requirements vary by program assignment, with some roles involving minimal travel and others requiring up to 50% in-state travel.

Candidates from any U.S. location are welcome to apply, but those based in the Southeastern United States (including Florida and Southern Georgia) may be especially well-aligned with current geographical program needs.

In This Role, You Will:

• Oversee the lifecycle of mitigation projects from pre-award review to award closeout
• Review mitigation project applications, ensuring proper procedures are followed
• Submit completed recovery project applications to FEMA for funding
• Draft project agreements and review requested modifications
• Continuously monitor active projects and ensure compliance regulations are met
• Collect, analyze, organize, and summarize financial/grant data
• Assist with federal and client-specific reporting requirements
• Track and monitor budgets; communicate results with project and client management
• Research and maintain fluency in rules and regulations associated with various federal programs
• Form trusted advisor relationships with clients and internal subject matter experts
• Travel to various property sites to meet with owners and assist with applications
• Assist client performance management of FEMA funds
• Oversee final project inspections and closeout processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, Hazard Mitigation, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Water/Conservation Management, Environmental Science, Emergency Management, Economics, or a related field required
• 3 years' work experience required
• Located in FL or Southern GA preferred
• Sales or account management experience considered a plus
• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Apps)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Up to 50% travel required depending on program assignment
