Role Description

The role of the Project Manager II is to take ownership, initiate, plan, execute, and finalize projects independently on a few medium to large projects from inception to completion. This position is responsible for the leadership of projects that are cross-functional and have a relative degree of complexity.

• Knowledgeable of best practices of project management and fabrication industry.
• Responsible for the overall health of the project, ensuring that requirements/deliverables are established and met for all stakeholders such as Customer and Management.
• Deliver projects before schedule and below budget.
• Acquire resources and coordinate the efforts of team members and vendors.
• Define the project’s objectives and oversee technical and quality control throughout its life cycle.
• Responsible for the technical design and engineering schedule internally and with vendors for all Emission related projects.
• Interface with an internal fabrication shop, external fabricators, external engineered-component suppliers, and third-party engineers.
• Manage multiple projects running concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Manage Emission systems projects for a variety of industry applications including Energy, HRSG or Simply Cycle power plants, and Refinery.
• Document and manage the scope and detailed requirements through the life of the project.
• Work with Engineering group in the generation of document deliverables and with customers to obtain approval of proposed design.
• Responsible for all commitments in the schedule; communicate and follow up regularly with team members to ensure tasks are completed according to plans.
• Collaborate with project engineering to maintain schedule and seek out change orders.
• Develop project plans for schedule, resources, and budget.
• Collaborate with resource managers, lead team members, Finance, and executives.
• Report status to project stakeholders through multiple formal and informal communication methods.
• Communicate effectively with project team members, management, and project stakeholders on project goals & objectives, status, issues, risks, and potential mitigation solutions.
• Monitor actual project hours and costs against the project/program estimates and budget.
• Make decisions on final Subcontractor selections based on total cost of ownership.
• Lead logistic preparations, field installation support, and coordinate commissioning of the equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of project management experience in Energy, Emission Controls, Refinery, or Structural steel fabrication.
• BS degree in Mechanical, Business, Industrial, or Project Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledgeable of industry processes, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrument, and controls.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and detailed fabrication drawings.
• Ability to overcome obstacles to achieve goals and adapt to a changing environment.
• Experience using MS Project Scheduling, MS Office, Excel, and understanding of ERP.

Licensing or Certifications

• Project Management Profession (PMP) preferred.

Travel Requirements

• Ability to travel, as required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
